The Doctor’s Date by Heidi Cullinan is book 2 in the Copper Point Medical series and my favorite for now. I thought Heidi couldn’t do better than Hung-Wei and Simon, whom I loved so much, but damn! I didn’t expect Owen and Erin.
Owen is the only anaesthesiologist in St. Ann’s hospital. He’s also known as being grouchy, harsh and blunt. He’s the ogre of Copper Point as he refers to himself. Owen’s also loyal to the people he loves, and he protects them fiercely, no one mess with Owen’s loved ones. I completely adored Owen since book 1. I loved his hard temper and his fierceness when it comes to his friend. I suspected that Owen had a rough start in life, I didn’t expect how awful it was for him, and I was outraged and hurt for him. I adored him, and I loved how he took care of Erin, how he protected him, how he loved him. *swoon*
Erin is the HR Director at St. Ann’s hospital. He’s also the son of the council board president, John Jean Andreas. Erin seems uptight, cold, and ready to follow his bigot of a father everywhere. He seems to be the puppet of the board, spreading their discriminatory and hateful rules. But Erin is nothing that he seems to be, and little by little Owen and his friends meet the real Erin. Oh, Erin is adorable, I was surprised by him, by who he really is. My heart broke when I read about his childhood, about his life, and I was so sad for him. But Erin is stronger than what I thought. I completely melted for him, he was a real surprise for me, and I adored him. *melted*
The plot is around Owen and Erin’s story, but also about something really fishy about the hospital. It was built slowly between them; they didn’t jump into bed right after the auctions. The author makes them take their times to get to know each other better, to tame each other. It was well written, full of emotions and beautiful moments.
Heidi Cullinan’s outdone herself with those two beautiful men. They were perfect for each other. They took me with them on their incredible journey, and I couldn’t put my kindle down until I finished the book and then at the end, I was torn between tears of happiness for them or tears of sadness because I had to let them go.
