BLURB:

Pirates off the coast of a dangerous tropical island have captured Riley Geller and his friends. There is no end to their cruelty — especially once they discover that Riley is an immortal. Riley’s pain becomes a journey, one that is artfully orchestrated by his warden: an infamous, stoic assassin with a few secrets of his own. It is up to Riley to master his own suffering and discover his greater purpose in life, even if it costs him everything he’s ever known.

“My colleagues believe that you like it when they hurt you,” Chavez said.

“Sick fucks,” Riley croaked, but he was breathing too hard with excitement and betrayed himself. He knew Chavez could pick out the light in his eyes. It was like a second wind. Riley tried to move again, so Chavez pressed the hand on his chest down harder, disturbing his fractured ribs.

“I’ve made a small fortune off addicts of all kinds,” Chavez continued. Once again, Riley was captured by his stare, pinned and motionless, unable to look away from his dark eyes. “I know one when I see one.”

Warning. I feel I must give readers a warning that this is not BDSM. This story is about human trafficking and the extreme abuse and beatings that go along with that. This is definitely a dark, paranormal, horror read with some erotica. I am not saying any of this to deter readers from reading this story, but as I am one that lives the BDSM lifestyle, I don’t want readers thinking that this is that kind of story.

With that being said, the author did an incredible job with the reality of human trafficking. An American group of friends were kidnapped by pirates and taken to the island Temuba. We meet Chavez, who is like the ringleader of the group and a true anarchist king. Chavez and his men are excited about the money they will get for this group of people they have.

One of the captives, the runt of the group, Riley, was the boogeyman’s brother. Chavez was very adamant that he not be marked up at all. The boogeyman is Gringo Loco, and everyone is afraid of him. Riley is set on escaping with his friend, Adam. The story that follows is gruesome. There is brutal beatings that Riley has to deal with that are so realistic and sent chills through me.

There’s a lot to the story, and I don’t want to give too much to away. My heart went out to Riley, and I found myself holding my breath on more than one occasion. If this is your kind of read, you will enjoy the reality this author brings.

BLURB:

An abusive Dom robbed Orion Gordon of his love of BDSM, destroying his confidence and leaving him unsure he’ll ever find peace through submission to another. Still, deep inside, his longing continues.

Marcus Sadir loves Hunter Dixon, yet can’t be the one thing Hunter truly desires: a sub to control. And Hunter can’t find satisfaction in the sadistic aspects of the BDSM lifestyle, while Marcus thrives on inflicting and sharing pain. When Marcus convinces Hunter they should find a third on a permanent basis, they discover Orion might be the key to bridging their differences and joining them on a deeper level.

But they must help Orion move past his trauma enough for him to enjoy new facets of BDSM and kink again. Their journey toward becoming whole—together—won’t be without challenges. Can Orion trust enough to try again?

Secured and Free is the second book in the Entwined Dreams series by Z. Allora. I really enjoyed reading Secured and Free. It was well written and nicely edited. The characters had depth, and I loved all of Orion’s personal growth. I loved getting to see cameos by Andrew and Zach from the first book. Along with some of the old cast that we met from Entwined and some new supporting characters also, like Sophia who is Henry’s paramedic partner and fellow member of Entwined. I have read the first book in the series but the books are very much standalone, and you don’t have to read the first book to understand what’s happening in the second book. There wasn’t as much inner monolog in Secured and Free as there was in Lock and Key which I’m sure made a lot of people who didn’t like it in the first book happy. I actually liked the inner monolog, so I kind of missed it.

Orion’s never had to worry about having a safeword until he found himself in a situation where consensual turned into abuse. He used to enjoy being a pain slut and submissive, but now he can’t even stand to have his hands bound in a scene without using his new safeword. He’s frustrated that he can’t enjoy what he used to love and he’s feeling lost.

Henry’s in an open relationship with Marcus. They love each other, but both have needs that the other can’t fulfill, hence the open relationship. Marcus thinks that they need to find a permanent third partner to bridge their differences. Henry needs a submissive to help grow and push his boundaries, and Marcus needs somebody that likes pain and edging.

Henry and Marcus come into Orion’s life just after he has decided to give up on BDSM. However with Orion’s new difficulties after being abused and his past as a pain slut, he’s potentially perfect for both Henry and Marcus. Henry can’t help but want to help Orion overcome his past and make him happy and whole again. And with Marcus’ ability to distract Orion, Henry might just be able to make that happen.

Making a regular relationship between two people work is hard enough, but Marcus hasn’t had any luck with a triad relationship yet. Henry also has some reservations about adding a third person to their relationship and poor Orion has never been in a relationship at all.

Will they be able to overcome their fears and make everything work out? You will just have to read the book. If you enjoyed Lock and Key, then you will love Secured and Free. I know I did. I can’t wait to read more books by Z. Allora.

BLURB:

li is an ancient vampire with an ego the size of a planet and a sex drive to match, but his tumultuous past left him broken, so he hides from humanity and cowers from love, left to endure the crushing guilt that haunts his every waking moment. Even his best friend, Malachi, a ghost who is hopelessly in love with Eli, remains unaware of all that transpired in London. Malachi can never know the truth.

When the Angel Daniyyel pays an unwelcome visit, Eli must face his secrets, secrets that he has tried so long to hide. To make matters worse, a chance encounter with the most beautiful man he has ever seen shatters his beloved isolation, pushing him into the world of the living once more. Something about this strange man seems so familiar, but Eli can’t even remember who he was before he became a vampire, never mind explain the unwanted emotions the enigmatic stranger ignites in his dead heart. So Eli has a choice – return to the world that ruined him, or continue his self-imposed exile with no hope of salvation.

Let me start by saying this author has a brilliant mind. His imagination took me on such a journey and had me captivated for the entire book. I can’t even begin to imagine the research he had to do for this first installment. The way this author engaged all my emotions is mind blowing. I could be laughing one minute and crying the next and then scared the very next.

This story is set in the WW2 era within Germany during Hitler and the Holocaust. There are many creatures in this story anywhere from good to evil. We have Eli the vampire that’s locked himself off from the real world in his castle. He lives with the funny and campy ghost, Malachi. These reminded me of an old married couple with their bickering but in a good funny way. Then the angel, Daniyyel shows up and changes things up.

Then there’s the gorgeous soldier, Ethan that Eli rescues and brings him back to the castle. It’s there that we learn of Isaiah’s books, Ethan’s father. I learned of Isaiah’s demise with demons and the loss of Eva, his wife. Eli feels a deep lust and connection with Ethan, and this drives Malachi crazy. Malachi has been in love with Eli for a very long time.

Eli is damaged and broken hearted. He uses sarcasm to keep from feeling real feelings and has an ego that gets him in trouble. Gideon was his true love and is the reason for his broken heart. Eli is lovable also with a high sex drive, but not many see this side of him.

There are so many characters, I can’t even tell you about them all. What I can tell you is that these characters are interconnected, and the flow this author has throughout this book is amazing. There are twist and turns, good vs. evil and jaw-dropping scenery.

This author has won me over as a fan for life. I found this story riveting, mouth-watering, terrifying and had my full attention from beginning to end.

I would recommend this to book to the not so weary. This book contains historical events, horror, gore, passion, rollercoaster of emotions and, of course, hot MM sex scenes and some MF sex scenes.
