Rejected. Heartbroken. Devastated.

Zack Davis wanted to serve only one man, Andrew Nikeman. He was denied because Andrew thought he was too young and because their brothers were together. So Zack crushed his submissive tendencies and focused on being the perfect Dom, giving every sub he played with something he couldn’t have.

After years of denying his submissive side, Entwined’s charity auction “Are you Dom Enough to be a sub?” gives Zack an excuse to get a little of what he’s always craved.

Andrew doesn’t know when his infatuation turned into more, but it kills him to see Zack with a constant parade of submissives. He’d refused to jeopardize his brother’s relationship or become Zack’s regret; however, Zack isn’t a kid anymore, and his brother’s relationship is unbreakable. Now Zack’s popularity and success as a Dom might ruin Andrew’s dreams of collaring him, but he can’t wait any longer to confess his feelings or he risks losing the man he loves forever.

Lock and Key’s the first book in the Entwined Dreams series which is a spinoff of her Dark Angels series. I was not aware of this when I read the book, and it didn’t have any impact on my love of this book. It was a standalone book. The author Z. Allora did a great job of explaining all of the characters in the book, and I never felt like I was missing out on some much-needed information. That being said, I did love the supporting characters enough that I will be reading the Dark Angel series so that I can get to know them even better.

I loved the cover for Lock and Key, and the blurb did its job and made me intrigued enough to read it. This is my first book by Z. Allora, but it most definitely will not be the last. I already have on my TBR the second book in the series Secured and Free. I loved the way the book was written, and I personally loved all of Zach’s inner monologs. Yes, there were a lot of them, and they were repetitive, but I enjoyed them. I also enjoyed all of the details about the BDSM lifestyle and the different types of relationships. I liked that Z. Allora touched on the importance of contracts and safewords and the difference between consensual vs. abuse. The book also had complex characters, and the story had plenty of hot steamy scenes and angst. I did find a couple of editing errors, but they didn’t detract from the story.

Zach knew from a young age that he was attracted to the BDSM lifestyle and wanted to be a part of it. He was kicked out of the house by his mom for his perverse proclivities, and so he goes to live with his older brother Dusty and becomes a roadie for his brother’s band. Zach prefers to work behind the scenes and falls head over heels for Andrew, who he meets for the first time backstage. He instantly knows that he wants to be Andrew’s sub. However, Zach is only 18 and Andrew rejects Zach’s advances because he is too young and also their brothers are dating, and he doesn’t want to jeopardize their relationship. Zach is devastated and does something stupid that he never wants to happen again. He does find a club called Entwined that does workshops and classes to learn about the lifestyle that he wants to be a part of and over the next 3 years learns enough to become a sought-after Dom. He figures that if he can’t have what he wants, then he will focus on giving other subs what they want and becomes a bit of a matchmaker. When the club hosts their first ever “Are you Dom enough to sub” event, he figures that he might be able to finally get what he wants.

Andrew, aka Drew a nickname given by Zach, has always wanted Zach but the timing wasn’t right when they first met. Andrew’s long-term relationship was just ending, and he didn’t want Zach to regret having a relationship with him. And he also didn’t want to jeopardize his brother’s relationship. With the ending of his long-term relationship, he is finally free to explore his Dom tendencies, and he becomes a member of Entwined. Over the years he has had to watch Zach work his way up in the club to become a favorite of the subs. And it is slowly killing him inside. When he hears that Zach is going to be participating in the “Are you Dom enough to be a sub” event, he’s thrilled that he will finally get his chance to be with Zach. And now that all of the reasons that kept them apart when Zach was 18 no longer apply, they might have a chance at a relationship.

Both Andrew and Zach will have to find the courage to work out their problems and be honest about what they want.

I thought this was a great book for readers that are new to BDSM. It was a great romance story.

Review: “Patterns” by Suede Delray

Ever since he’d met Dominick Cortez unexpectedly on the subway, Rob had been gripped by powerful memories. The intense feelings of desire he felt as soon as Dominick spoke his name, had taken him completely by surprise. He was perplexed. After all, he’d moved on, hadn’t he?

A homicide detective, Dominick’s marriage to his job had saved him, helping him to leave his feelings for Rob in the past. Or so he’d thought. Then he ran into Rob on his way to work. But ever since their impromptu meeting, Dominick couldn’t stop thinking about the past. Then a suspect in a murder investigation leads Dominick to the Martindale Institute, the very place Rob Dewhurst works.

This is the first book I have read by new-to-me author Suede Delray. I think it helps that the first book you read by a new author is also the first of a series or stand-alone, as it really gives you a feel for their writing style and storytelling, and what to expect for future releases. In this case, there were some things I really enjoyed, and some things that slightly irked me, but I’ll get to that soon enough.

The story centres around the two main characters, Rob Dewhurst and Dominick Cortez. Rob is the recently promoted assistant director of the Martindale Youth Detention Centre, he lives with Kyle his boyfriend of seven years. Dominick is a detective with the local Police force, he’s single and isn’t interested in being in a relationship. Rob and Dominick have a history together, and its big. They first met around 13 years earlier when Rob was working as a dancer/prostitute at a club called Mirror Palace, which was owned by Dominick’s uncle and Rob’s boss/pimp, Danny. Rob was a homeless teen, selling himself on the streets when Danny found him and took him in. He offered Rob food to eat and a place to stay, Rob earned his keep by sleeping with the men Danny set up for him. Dominick comes from a powerful Italian mafia family, but when his father found out he was gay, Dominick was cast out. He then became a police officer as he didn’t want to follow in the family footsteps. To his father, this was the ultimate betrayal, and they didn’t speak again. When another crime family began making moves to take over the family territory, Dominick went to his uncle’s club to try and talk him into getting word to his father to get the women and children in the family out of town to safety. He first noticed Rob dancing on a platform next to the bar in the club, and as he moved to go to the the stairs to get to his uncle’s office, they accidentally collided. This was the moment that changed everything for both men. From there, they became closer and started a relationship. Rob went to college with Dominick’s support and got the job at the detention centre, but then there was a big fight, where things were said, and which left both men with broken hearts. Rob and Dominick had not seen each other in 12 years when another accidental meeting brings them together again and into each other lives. Both men soon discover that the feelings from 12 years ago are still as strong as they were, and maybe together was how they were meant to be, and this was just another little push in the right direction by fate.

So, on to my thoughts. I really liked the plot of the story, I found it really interesting and entertaining, and I read the book through in one sitting because I was excited to see what was going to happen next. I liked how the author integrated the other characters and showed us Rob and Dominick’s back story, while still keeping a nice flow to the book. Now for the little things that let the book down a little. This may just be an issue of mine because I am very picky and notice things that a lot of people would probably let go, but to me, they stick and I just can’t seem to forget them once they’ve been seen. The first issue was that when Rob and Dominick meet in the club, we are told it was 2004, and a Lady GaGa song was playing when Dominick walked in. I may be wrong, but I’m sure Lady GaGa wasn’t around at this time, and it was a few more years before she was well known enough to have her songs played in clubs. Also, when Dominick’s detective partner Betty is discussing how he knows Rob, she asks if it was the same Rob from the club massacre in 2005, when again we’ve already been told it happened in 2004. There were also a couple of minor spelling mistakes, but these weren’t really much of an issue as the factual errors.

Overall, I did enjoy the book even with the little bugbear’s, and I’m looking forward to reading the other books in the series because the characters and story have caught my attention and peaked my interest, and I feel like I need to follow their journey to see what adventure the next part of their lives takes me on.

I will warn you though that there are multiple occasions when cheating either takes place or is mentioned, so if this is something that is a no go area for you, then it may best best to give this book a miss.

Review: “The Hard Boys: Alien Abduction” by Ian Cadena

TITLE: The Hard Boys: Alien Abduction
AUTHOR: Ian Cadena
SERIES: The Hard Boys
GENRE: Paranormal; Erotica
LENGTH: 139 pages
RELEASE DATE: September 4, 2016
PRICE: $2.99 e-book

Ethan & Justin Hard, along with their best friend Sparky, have formed Enigma Investigations to search out paranormal activity.
Case 1.
When their first potential…and adorable…client experiences missing time after a UFO sighting the Hard boys are all too eager to jump on his case. Will the Hard boys be able to solve what happened during his lapse of time?

I have to say I had a lot of fun reading this author. He has a fun and adventurous way of telling this story. This is the first installment of The Hard Boys.

In this wonderful Scooby Doo adventure, you start off meeting Justin and Ethan. They love being gay, and they love messing with their best straight friend, Sparky. Justin and Ethan have this wonderful chemistry among them, but they won’t let their emotions get involved. These characters bring so much to this book. There is humor, adventure, sexual lingo that was even new to me and hot sex.

These three characters started Enigma Investigations in the city of Mysteria. As Justin and Ethan finish a hot sex session, Sparky knocks on the door. Of course, they answer the door naked, and Sparky is fifty sheets of red. He tells them they have their first customer coming over. This is where we meet Brandon. Brandon claims to have been abducted by aliens. When Brandon shows up, Justin and Ethan are in instant lust. The thing is, Justin was straight before being abducted, and now he wants nothing more than to have these two men. The things Brandon can do since his abduction drives the two men mad. They didn’t even imagine the things being done to them.

Justin and Ethan go investigate where Brandon said he was abducted and hit a motorcycle. So they think. They are abducted along with the guy from the motorcycle. The things they witness this homophobic motorcyclist go through is so intense and hot at the same time. These aliens really know how to have a good time. Meanwhile, at home, Sparky is questioning the way he’s feeling towards Brandon. Sparky has always been straight, but he cannot deny his attraction to Brandon.

While this book is a fun and sexy read, it also carries a powerful message. The way this author carries this message through this story is amazing. I find it that in today’s time, we still have to worry about homophobes the way we still do. It shouldn’t take aliens coming to earth to teach everyone to let everyone love and live as they are. But, since we’re not there, as of yet, then enjoy this adventure.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves extremely naughty MM action, loves to laugh and wants to learn new sexual terms and descriptions. I can’t wait to read more of this author.

Review: “Demon Heat” by Noah Harris

It’s summer in the city.

July 1977: New York is sweltering under a record-breaking heat wave. Tensions run high, crime is rampant, and the city seems to be falling apart.

For new arrival Richard Miller, it is both heaven and hell. He has a loving boyfriend, a budding career as a nude model, and a comfortable place in the city’s vibrant gay community. But he knows it is all being threatened by sinister forces that he has not been able to defeat. The cult that tried to seduce him into the occult world is still after him, and Richard’s visions of the seductive demons that want to possess his body become stronger by the day. They threaten to destroy his relationship, his health, and his sanity.

Will Richard give in and become a slave to his temptations, or can he resist the powers of darkness threatening not only himself but his entire community?

Find out in this steamy gay paranormal romance. Can you handle the heat?

jologooptimummThis is the solidly researched and cleverly written City of Sinners, Book Two, by Noah Harris, which is turning out to be a brave, dark, twisted, genre-busting series. Yes, it’s an M/M Romance, it’s also historical, erotic and paranormal, but more than that, it’s a complex occult offering, of the kind I would normally only expect to see from the likes of Stephen King. But this has so much more to offer and the resulting creative, but edgy feel is only a small part of its appeal.

Demon Heat is the continuation of Richard Miller’s roller coaster journey so, although not critical, if you haven’t read book one, Darkest Desires, I would recommend it. Set in 1977 in New York City, amidst the gay community, the depth of research Noah has undertaken, to get the ethos of the era is spot on and awesome. It feels right, incorporating a lot of historical accuracy and detail from that time. The characters, which were fully developed in book one, are expanded further in book two. Richard and Tyrone are still together though their relationship has issues, as does Richard’s career as a nude model. We revisit Steve and Adam, with Steve offering a bit of humor. We find out what happened to Paco after the Everard Bathhouse fire. We’re also introduced to Peter who, like Richard, is new to the city and struggling to find his feet. Cue some hot BDSM scenes. The Knowledge Demon makes a re-appearance as does Anton, head of the power hungry Cult. We are also introduced to a new demon, the Taurus Demon, who has a significant role to play. The occultists are still at large and intent on gaining power through the summoning of The Hooded One, the demon who needs to complete his possession of Richard in order to cross over to this world and so give them the power they crave.

As with book one, the story revolves around Richard’s relationships, his life in the gay community, and his fight against the occult. You’ll need an open mind to read this dark story as some scenes deal with mature themes, but if you’re Okay with the occult, erotic sex, and drug use, as an integral, but not gratuitous, part of a storyline, then you won’t be able to put this down. There are a complex set of interlinked plots which merge together, at significant points in the story, making this a very satisfying and exciting read from start to finish. There’s a lot going on but at no time is it confusing. Noah gives us enough information to understand the plot and yet keep us guessing at the outcome. The ending ties up a good many of the plot themes but, I warn you, not all. It’s a HFN and there’ll be another book in the series. What happens to the evil Anton and his cult? What of Richard’s relationship with Tyrone? I’m waiting with baited breath for book three and, though I’m not usually a fan of long series, this is one I’d love to see continue.

Review: “The Fool” by A.J. Marcus

TITLE: The Fool
AUTHOR: A.J. Marcus
SERIES: Cards of Destiny
PUBLISHER: eXtasy Books
COVER ARTIST: Angela Waters
GENRE: Fantasy, Dark, Paranormal, Erotica
LENGTH: 84 pages
RELEASE DATE: February 24, 2017

When Arron Carmichael and Ramsey Roland broke up it devastated both of them, but Ramsey couldn’t handle Arron’s family secret. When the family business brings them together, they discover Ramsey has a secret larger than any Arron thought possible.

Arron is part of the Gardener family, a group of witches who have protected the world from daemons for thousands of years. Ramsey couldn’t deal with the magic that was an intricate part of Arron’s life, so he told Arron they were finished, and he needed to leave. His decision left two hearts broken.

When Ramsey is mugged while going to a bar to hang out with friends, it opens him up to the world Arron had hinted at, but it also brings Arron back into his life. Arron does his best to save Ramsey from the dark forces that are hunting them both. When they learn the reason Ramsey is being hunted, it shocks them both to their cores but brings them closer together. Only together can they hope to defeat the forces working against them.

O One of the things I love about reading is how an author can put their own spin on a familiar theme. A.J. Marcus did just that. I especially liked how he described daemons and where they came from. This brought it completely away from the usual Heaven and Hell concept and gave it a more scientific approach.
Aaron is a witch from a family of witches. His family have been daemon hunters for generations. Not only have they been protecting humans but also, they help keep the existence of daemons hidden.

Ramsey is in real estate. He lives a rather boring ordinary life. The only time he’s dealt with any of the so-called paranormal was when he was dating Aaron. Once Aaron told him he was a witch and what his family did, Ramsey got scared. He broke up with Aaron and went back to his plain boring life.

Five years later brings Aaron back into his life. His life and the world around him will never be the same. Not only does he find out about the real existence of daemons, but he learns something new about himself. They realize that neither has gotten over the other. The threat is still there and follows them. The two must overcome the dangers so they can be together. Both of them have no clue of the big surprise to come.

I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading the rest of the series. The only thing that I was not fond of was the ending. It went away from how the rest of the book flowed by being rather quick. Some key moments were mentioned briefly rather than the walk through the rest of the book delivers.

Review: “Rising Beauty” by Meraki P. Lyhne

TITLE: Rising Beauty
AUTHOR: Meraki P. Lyhne
SERIES: The Cubi Series
GENRE: Paranormal; Incubus ;MMM; Erotica
LENGTH:  pages
PRICE: $ -e-book

Since the Mayflower brought the first five Cubi to America, the race has looked forward to this day. But an overlooked historical detail can bring everything they have worked toward to an end.

Daniel is settling in and trying to find a rhythm after the latest change in his life. With the help of Seldon, Caledon, and the Grand Lady Geodin, Daniel begins his education and development to rise as a full-fledged Incubus.

Seldon is not a man who rattles easily, but the latest changes to his life after the Cubi Court Order has sent the old Incubus out in uncharted territory. Falling madly in love with a human raised boy does not help uncomplicate things—especially when that boy is not yet versed enough in the Cubi ways to not mistake feeding for love or love for feeding.

Are you ready to continue Daniel’s journey in the world of Cubi?
So now, after Seldon got his punishment and Daniel’s true nature it’s revealed, things are getting a little to official for Daniel’s liking.
His education as Incubi continues with the help of both Caledon and Seldon. But his human side, how he sees the world around him, is still there.

This series being an erotic read, there is not so much to say without spoiling the story for you dear reader, but I will try my best.

The dosing of both Daniel and Seldon is provided by Caledon (mainly). These three are getting closer and closer, but Daniel still can’t see the difference between lovemaking and feeding without being dosed. For him having sex without a dose it’s considered lovemaking. That leads to a very interesting situation between the three.

We will find out in this sequel that every monarch is to bring new powers to his/her people. The same is happening with Daniel too. He empowers his Cubi, both Incubi and Succubi with his power. What is his power? Aren’t you a curious little thing…? Read the book luv. How the actual empowering takes place, I leave it to your dirty/not so dirty imagination…

Remember from the first book, the slave who almost killed a red-eye? Him having a protein what’s dangerous to Incubi and Succubi? Well, we will learn about that too, and the development of that situation brings us to the next chapter of the Cubi world.

The book, as we’re used too by now, gave us a hot read! I’m anxiously waiting for the next book to see how things will go for Daniel, Seldon and Caledon.

Well, the next sequel will have a new character called Levidon. You may think it’s coincidence, but it’s not. So let me have my moment of fame to announce you that I will be, as Levidon, in Meraki’s next book *winkwink #hashtagtime #braggingmuch #mebeingamuse

Review: “: Broken in Silence” by Katze Snow

TITLE: : Broken in Silence
AUTHOR: Katze Snow
SERIES: Demons and Wolves
GENRE: BDSM; Erotica; Paranormal; Shapeshifter
PAPERBACK: Yes – in process
LENGTH: 162 pages
RELEASE DATE: March 18, 2017
PRICE: $0.99 eBook / $11.99 paperback

Tannerian Wulfric is a leader—a strong alpha who bows to no-one, especially those who try to undermine his authority.

When an opportunity arises, he grabs it with both hands and lets nothing get in his way. Trouble is, his brother has been caught in the crossfire of glorious retribution, and Tanner is in need of assistance.

For many years, Alex Jonas has lived his life in peace. But when fate lands him in the hands of his ex-lover and alpha, he finds himself in the centre of a feud he never knew existed, and must immerse himself in ways he had never imagined. One chance encounter, one night, and everything comes crashing down around him. Alex must fight for his life while Tanner fights for one thing and one thing only—vengeance, which has never tasted sweeter.

Can Tanner avenge his family’s death without spilling more blood? Or will his inner demon tear apart everything he has worked for, and lose the man who owns his heart?

Warning: Contains strong language, violence, and graphic, erotic scenes which require a shower to cool yourself down. This is NOT a romance. It’s hot, it’s sticky, and all kinds of messed up. Proceed with caution!

This is the first MM novel from the author. And warning! We need to keep a look out for this author! She is brilliant, amazing and dark!

When you start reading this book, you find yourself in the middle of the plot. You may think that you need a previous book to catch up with the characters, but that’s not the case.
Katze has a unique style to bring the past into the present without any effort on the reader’s side. And now let me introduce to this book, who’s sequel I’m already waiting impatiently for.

Tannerian Wulfric, but let’s call him Tanner is a fierce alpha. He wasn’t always this cruel, calculating, manipulative jerk. But when his family is killed, except his twin brother Tobias, things change. He should be dead, him and Tobias too, but the killer of his family has another idea to torment Tanner. What, you may ask? Well, you need to read the book to get that question answered.
He’s plotting now for more than two hundred years to revenge his family. This quest alienates his brother and pretty much everybody from him. He goes through lovers like a warm knife through butter, well except Alex.

Alex meets Tanner when he’s in the lowest in his life. And of course, Tanner takes advantage of that. Alec becomes his new pet, and he trains him and controls him as he pleases. Now, after eleven year, him meeting the Alpha, and ten years out of his control, Tanner has a mission for him. Alex can’t deny the feeling which he still nourishes for him. Even though he has a smartass and cocky attitude, Tanner’s piercing look still has an effect on him.

The story happens in a world where shifters are divided into two groups. One who is in servitude of mankind and one who thinks that they are superior to humans and they should be not the servant. Well, as you guessed Tanner is the leader of the latter.

I would like to congratulate Katze on this amazing work!

On their first Halloween eve together, things didn’t quite go as planned for two very passionate and horny men. Noah waits anxiously and impatiently for Ethan to get home from work to start their night of sexy fun. Noah discovers a man is watching him through the window across the street. When Ethan phones to let him know he’s caught in traffic, the fun starts with phone sex. Shortly after, a masked Ethan arrives for the Halloween night of fun. But a knock at the door later has left Noah wondering who he just made love to.

They find themselves dealing with more than they bargained for in this debut book of an erotic M/M series. It’s a one-night tale with twists and turns, and lust wrapped in suspicion. A hot read that will have you begging for more!

Enrapture is the perfect title for this book. This author had me enraptured from the get go. First, you meet Noah, who’s waiting for his lover to come home and spend a sexy Halloween with. Ethan, his hot lover, is running late and is stuck in traffic. You wonder how this can be hot and sexy. Well, these two lovers have a way with words on the phone.

Noah is in their window watching a stranger watch him, and Ethan has a hot driver next to him in traffic. The things these two do while on the phone with each other is so hot, you feel the sexiness rip through you. These characters are so believable with their need for each other and the longer they are apart, the hotter it gets. It made me want to have some really hot phone sex, and I’m a bit old for that. LOL

The author made me want to be the stranger watching Noah in the window. I wanted to be the one touching myself while I watched this intriguing man pleasure himself. As this stranger keeps moving around the store, Noah keeps finding him watching. Ethan is hearing all the details and learns that the driver next to him, is also touching himself.

Now, this seems all innocent and fun but remember, it is Halloween. When Noah gets the knock at the door, he excitedly answers the door to his lover. What proceeds is extremely hot, and you should have water next to you for your dry mouth. The author gives great detail of the hotness and connection between these two lovers. Then, there comes a knock on the door.

This is a sexy and hot read. So, if you like voyeurism, phone sex and touching yourself, then I highly recommend this book.

Beneath the Deep: The wonders of the ocean holds the greatest of mysteries.

Kratos has always done his duty as a guard of Aquila City, a thriving city of mermen, with confidence and resolve. When several royals cause fracturing within the courts, he needs to pick a side. He’s uncertain, until he realizes his decision to allow his old friend, Zarek, to get away several moon cycles before made the decision for him. Kratos realizes he’s a target…and he’s not the only one. Sent on a mission to locate the lighthouse where Zarek is hiding out, Kratos runs across a massive human walking along the beach, searching for seashells. The man’s name is Easton Ritton. One whiff of the hulking human’s scent intrigues him. A taste of his blood confirms it. The large male is Kratos’s Adelfi Psychi, the other half of his soul. Best of all, Easton knows Zarek and about mermen. Unfortunately, the human doesn’t consider himself gay, and he fights their attraction. Along with that, someone has followed Kratos, putting everyone’s lives in danger. Can Kratos woo his reluctant gentle giant and keep everyone safe?

I loved Seashell, Surf, and a Merman by Charlie Richards. This is the second book in the Briny Nix Series, and although I had no trouble following the story and figuring out the characters, I think I would have enjoyed the story more if I had gotten to read the first book in the series first. This book is about merman guard Kratos and his Adelfi Psychi—the other half of his soul—Easton who is human. Kratos’s a guard for Aquila City, and Easton’s a gym instructor. Kratos’s gay, and Easton’s straight, but I loved how Easton handled himself and didn’t let himself run away from his new and overwhelming feelings. Kratos’s tasked with taking a message to a merman Zarek who was accused of treason and fled to the human realm where he found his Adelfi Psychi in the human named Wayne. When he gets to the human shore, he sees Easton walking on the shoreline looking for seashells and digging up soft shell clams. Kratos’s pretty sure that he’s found his Adelfi Psychi and the chemistry between them is very hot and steamy.

I think this book would have been better if it was longer. The characters, while I enjoyed them, were kind of one dimensional and the storyline glosses over a lot, and I would have liked more depth and background. Overall I thought the characters and storyline were entertaining and a cute read, but it missed out on its potential to be great.

The story was well written, but I did come across some editing errors, but they weren’t too distracting. I did like it enough that I will be reading the first book in the series and hope the author will continue the series. I would really like to see a book about Easton’s friend Tran and the merman Garan.

Having recovered from the ordeal of being the victim of an internet scam, his life returns to normal working at a five-star hotel selling VIP vacation club memberships to wealthy clients, and being with the love of his life, Captain Rick. That is until he finds Rick cheating on him with a woman. Feeling sad and lonely, Berkeley is enticed by the prospects of high earnings and a jet setter lifestyle when he’s approached by one of his clients to be a high-class escort.

Whilst he revels in being treated like a prince, he has to accommodate some strange and unusual sexual requests, and before long he’s caught up in a web of espionage between a transport conglomerate and a client who is developing a futuristic technology that will change the future of transport forever. Only Berkeley knows how he’s going to weave his way out of his new-found problem.

This book, is book 5 of the Men in Love and at War series. It may be beneficial to read the other books in the series first to get to know the characters and setting a little better because we’re not given much information at the outset of the story as to who they are or where they’ve come from. I went into this story blind not knowing it was a continuation of a series and although I got through it without any real issues, I feel it would have enhanced my reading experience by knowing what happened to the characters before we got to this point in their lives.

Set in a town called El Sauzal on the island of Tenerife, we meet the main character of the story, Berkeley. After breaking up with his boyfriend Rick, Berkeley, through his job selling memberships to a private vacation club, meets Peter Moore. Peter owns Royal Service which is a high-class escort agency and with some hands-on persuasion, he convinces Berkeley to come work for him. Berkeley’s first client is Sebastian who’s a multimillionaire living in the south of France. Sebastian doesn’t do relationships and whenever he needs some company he enlists the services of Peter’s agency. When Sebastian and Berkeley meet, they find that they actually get on really well and enjoy their time together. Sebastian later requests that Berkeley accompanies him on a trip to South America. During this trip Berkeley discovers that Sebastian has developed a new technology for travel which is similar to teleportation. Sebastian sees this as the future of travel, where someone can be anywhere in the world within seconds. A few weeks later, Berkeley’s asked to go to London to meet a new client who has asked for him. Here, he meets Frederick and straight away there’s a connection between them that is completely different to what he had with Sebastian. With Frederick, he feels more comfortable and relaxed and like he could actually fit in Frederick’s life and be happy. Frederick tells Berkeley that he’s the spokesperson for a group of people in the travel industry and that they know about Sebastian’s technology and want to stop it going further than the stage that it’s at as millions of jobs are at risk. He has been told by his bosses to convince Berkeley to steal the data from Sebastian and pass it on to them so as the research can be discredited.

As a character, Berkeley comes across as quite arrogant and materialistic, he only really thinks of himself and the money. Even though he enjoys being with Sebastian and Frederick and they are paying for his services, he always wants to do things on his terms. The story did flow well, but it was written almost like two halves, the first part where Berkeley becomes an escort and takes us through his experience of meeting new clients and dealing with their often strange requests and then the second part where he becomes an industrial spy and business guru. This had me slightly conflicted about the story because I didn’t know where it was trying to go. There were some twists which added excitement, but there were also some parts that were so cheesy I wanted to cringe. Although everything in this story is wrapped up and finalized, it’s left open for more books in the series to follow, the ending felt right for the story, and I’m happy with how the author completed this little adventure in Berkeley’s life.

In the end, I can’t say I loved the book, but I also didn’t hate it. Maybe if I had read the previous books in the series, I would have been able to connect to this story more, but I was left feeling indifferent. Will I read the other books in the series? The answer is maybe, I wouldn’t rule it out and it certainly hasn’t put me off reading other work by this author because it actually was a good story concept.
