You can’t really categories Rhys’s style. She writes about bad boys who have  romantic hearts, an inner poet who murmurs them sweet nothings…

When Dallas Yates buys the new building just across the street, Jake Moore knows that the days of running from himself is over. Reading Jakes story, his upbringing, I wondered how he could still breathe. With an asshole for a father, he grew up tortured, beaten regularly and when the so-called father finds out that he’s attracted to men, his life becomes even darker.

Now Jake’s a grown up, but he’s still under the claws of his father, even though his father is dying. He spends all of his money to cover his father’s health care. He’s resigned that he will never know a man’s touch again (and that one time ended up as badly as you can imagine), when the fulloflife Dallas burst in his life. Jake struggles between the promise he made to his mom and the feelings tormenting him. Dallas is all he ever wanted, all he ever hoped for.

Dallas Yates comes from a loving, supportive family. He doesn’t know what Jakes goes through, but his friend Celeste (Stephan before) seems to know what Jake might suffer from. Dallas is more than ready to be there for Jake when things are getting bad. Jake owning his father’s gun makes him afraid for Jake because he sees that Jake is at the verge of breaking down.

The story is beautiful, about a man who struggles with his past and the other who would do anything for the love of his life. For Dallas, it was love at first sight, for me was love at the first row.

For those who already know the author, I can tell that she will not let you down with this book, and for those who don’t … now would be a good time for you to discover a great author!
